DJ Commish

New York City’s “Commander-In-Chief”, DJ Commish has entertained party-goers worldwide since 1998. He has been called to do such events as album release parties, celebrity birthday parties, college tours and special events. He has done events for people and groups such as Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Nelly, BET, The Source, Universal, Vibe, Kool, Adidas, the NBA and the NFL. Starting out as a radio personality at WSJU 590am at St. John’s University in 1996, Commish earned his name by creating and directing a strong Urban Music Department (UMD) and maintaining order at the station while the general manager was absent. As “acting commissioner” of the UMD, Commish organized events for the deejays, but never touched turntables until September 1998. DJ Commish received his first opportunity to spin at a back-to-school party for St. John’s students. DJ Supreme (now known as Politician) left Commish in charge of the music at about 2am. Armed with a quick lesson on how to use the turntables and mixer and a good ear, Commish proceeded to play and rock the crowd. When Supreme returned to the booth, he saw that Commish had things under control. He left Commish on the turntables for the rest of the party. By the end of the night, Commish received offers to spin at several upcoming events. He never looked back. Two years later, Commish invaded the club scene in New York City playing at such hot spots such as Club NV and Cheetah on a weekly basis alongside such DJ heavyweights as Red Alert, Funkmaster Flex, and Goldfinger. DJ Commish has been blessed with the opportunity to spin for the masses. In addition to spinning in the hottest clubs and events in New York City, his journeys have led him to such stops as Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Miami, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, the Hamptons and the Bahamas. In 2003, DJ Commish launched his critically acclaimed website, www.djcommish.com. The site opened to rave reviews and served as an inspiration to other deejays to launch their websites. He also made his first appearance on BET’s Rap City in March of 2004. In 2005, DJ Commish became the deejay of choice for the players of the New York Giants. This honor led to being the official DJ of the 2006 NFL Draft Pre-Party. In addition to playing at clubs and special events, 2006 marks the year that DJ Commish enters the world of mix-cd’s. So far, he had released several cd’s to rave reviews. In 2007, DJ Commish officially launched the Mixtape Section to www.djcommish.com. After taking and completed production courses, “The Commander-In-Chief” is on a mission to provide his services to his worldwide fans through the use of his mixtapes. In addition, DJ Commish returned to radio in November 2007. This time, he has a one-hour show called “Commander-In-Chief” Radio that airs daily on AOLRadio.com. Commish’s club style of spinning made his show an instant success to AOL Radio’s 2.8 million subscribers worldwide. In February 2008, Commish returned to college radio. In an effort to help in the development of up and coming deejays, he has joined forces with DJ Prince Rej Da Boss, Ms. Bossy and Mack to form a weekly Saturday afternoon radio show at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. The show airs online at www.wliubk.org on Saturdays from 4-7pm. The show became an instant success. The group added a second show on Sunday afternoons called Recovery Sundays Radio on the same station from 4-7pm. Commish also added Imani Da Diva to the show. Both shows feature a different special guest each week with DJ Commish taking the role of the lead interviewer. After four smash weeks, ITunes added both shows to its radio channel
